Ways To Control Your Hormones And Lose Weight Fast

How Hormones Control Fat Metabolism (Weight Loss And Weight Gain)

Did you know that sometimes being overweight has nothing to do with calorie intake or lack of exercise? It seems too good to be true, but its a fact! For a large number of people who struggle with weight gain, the problem is actually due to nagging little hormones.

The rising and falling levels of hormones control your appetite, cravings, fat storage and more, which makes them crucial components of weight maintenance. By understanding these chemical messengers, you can learn how to control them and avoid significant weight gain.

Leptin and appetiteLeptin regulates appetite by signaling to the brain that youre full and should stop eating. Levels of the hormone need to be regulated for normal bodily function, because both too much and too little leptin can cause weight gain. When you lose fat cells, usually by dropping weight quickly, the leptin in your body starts to disappear. That means that theres less of the hormone that signals fullness, so you might keep on eating. At the same time, too much leptin can cause the development of a resistance to the hormone. When you consume excessive amounts of fructose, the body converts the sugar into fat and your levels of leptin increase. And when you have too much of any hormone in your system, the body becomes resistant to its message. With leptin, that means your brain stops responding to the signal that youre fullcommonly resulting in overeating.

Can You Combine These Supplements

While you will want to speak to your physician about combining these supplements, as a general rule of thumb, you may be able to combine one or more of these supplements into your daily intake. For example, because pregnenolone supports DHEA, you may be able to take both of these supplements at the same time.

Your Low Testosterone Levels Are Slowing Down Your Metabolism

You are confronted with an astounding number of toxins each day, including pesticides, herbicides, genetically modified foods, and about six different synthetic hormones in meat. Toxins are lurking in face creams, prescription drugs, processed foods, your lipstick, the linings of tuna fish cans, the fire-retardant materials in couches, and even the air you breathe. The list goes on.

Many types of these toxins, such as pesticides, plastics, and industrial chemicals, behave like estrogen when absorbed in the body. Experts believe that our increasing exposure to toxins helps explain why so many girls are entering puberty earlier and why many boys exhibit feminine characteristics such as developing breasts. Xeno-estrogens, as these particular toxins are called, have been associated with an elevated risk of estrogen-driven diseases like breast and ovarian cancers and endometriosis.

All this fake estrogen overwhelms your body’s testosteronewhich is vital for hormone balanceand contributes to estrogen overload. Testosterone contributes to muscle growth, which in turn supports metabolism. And, as we already know, estrogen overload raises insulin insensitivity. The combination adds pounds to your frame: A study from Sweden published in the journal Chemosphere showed that exposure to a particular type of pesticide called organochloride was linked to a weight gain of 9½ pounds over 50 years.

Can Taking Estrogen Help You Lose Weight If You Are A Man

Hunger Hormones Leptin and Ghrelin

Men begin to experience the cons of andropause during the after-50 period. Males lose sexual drive, muscles become weak, and overall well-being drops. Does hormone replacement cause weight gain in men? Testosterone accumulates fat in the abdomen and its low to up levels cause risks for syndrome X and fatness in tummy and breast areas. Katya B. Rubinow, MD, published an article in NCBI which goal was to answer the question can taking estrogen help you lose weight if you are a man? Clinical trials and thorough research asserted that decreased and excessive levels of estrogen in the male organism result in metabolic dysfunction and obesity. The implication of the research claims the crucial role of estrogen in hormone therapy for weight loss.

D3 And K2 Supplements

D2 and K2 are a powerful duo when taken as a supplement. Each of these vitamins is involved with balancing hormones, particularly those associated with weight management, and are viewed as safe vitamin supplements for people to take to support metabolic processes. Additionally, taking a combined supplement of D3 and K2 may support cell growth, bone mineralization, and weight management.

D3 Helps Balance Hormones

Vitamin D3, which the body can generate from absorbing sunlight, has a long history of being associated with overall good immune health, but D3 is also involved in keeping your hormone levels steady. Studies have found that D3 efficiencies are linked to obesity and that internal levels of D3 conversion increase after weight loss, particularly in women. What this means for your weight loss goal is that using D3 supplements may help increase overall weight loss.

K2 Supports Weight Loss

K2 is not a vitamin commonly found in most diets or even in many supplements, but there are significant benefits for including this vitamin in your daily intake. As a vitamin, K2 plays critical roles in bone and dental health, liver health, and yes, even reducing body weight and visceral fat. Because K2 is hard to find in food and because the conversion from K1 to K2 is inefficient, its generally easier to get an ideal amount of daily K2 intake when taken directly.

Learn To Manage Stress

Stress can wreak havoc on your hormones. Two major hormones affected by stress are cortisol and adrenaline, which is also called epinephrine.

Cortisol is known as the stress hormone because it helps your body cope with stress over the long term.

Adrenaline is the fight-or-flight hormone that provides your body with a surge of energy to respond to immediate danger.

However, unlike hundreds of years ago when these hormones were mainly triggered by threats from predators, today theyre usually triggered by peoples busy, often overwhelming lifestyles.

Unfortunately, chronic stress causes cortisol levels to remain elevated, which can lead to excessive calorie intake and obesity, including increased belly fat (

37 ).

A 2005 review of studies found that massage therapy not only reduced cortisol levels by an average of 31%, but also increased levels of the mood-boosting hormone serotonin by 28% and dopamine by 31%, on average .

Try to devote at least 1015 minutes per day to stress-reducing activities, even if you dont feel you have the time.

Summary:

Engaging in stress-reduction behaviors like meditation, yoga, massage and listening to soothing music can help normalize your levels of the stress hormone cortisol.

  • There are certain foods I cant stop eating even though I suspect theyre bad for me.
  • Dont you have a weight loss pill you can give me?
  • Ive tried everything to lose weight. Maybe I need to accept myself as fat, and give up my skinny clothes.
  • Nutrition and diet strategies that work for others dont seem to apply to me.

Your Belly Could Get Bigger

It’s the ultimate paradox. Stress makes us want to eat more. At the same time, dieting is stressful. And that may have some unintended consequenceslike belly fat. Several studies have found that diets raise cortisol, a stress hormone that directs fat to your tummy. If that weren’t enough, high cortisol levels also break down calorie-burning muscle, adding another hit to your metabolism.

How To Balance Estrogen For Weight Loss:

To avoid estrogen dominance, you want to keep a fine balance between your progesterone and estrogen.

Integrative Medicine Doctor Sara Gottfried, M.D., recommends eating a pound of veggies per day, as she states the fiber will help remove any excess estrogen from the body.

Gottfried also recommends that women should aim for 35 to 45 gram of fiber intake per day, increasing their amount slowly so as not to cause stomach upset.

You can also naturally balance estrogen dominance by:

  • Reducing your red meat intake
  • Eliminating excess sugar or processed foods
  • Exercising daily to promote detoxification

Resistance And Aerobic Training

The resistance training background of the participants was 3.5 ± 1.4 years in the diet group and 3.1 ± 1.1 years in the control group. The participants trained with their own training programs and they were asked to provide their training diaries throughout the study period. The training frequency, intensity and volume were calculated from the diaries. Total exercise metabolic equivalents in hours were calculated based on recommendations .

Split routines were used for resistance training by all competitors in the diet group meaning that they focused on single muscle groups per session as is often the case also in bodybuilders . The main muscle groups trained included thighs, hamstrings, buttocks, chest, shoulders, arms, upper and lower back, calves, and abdominals. Dividing training into separate body parts per session did not differ significantly throughout the training. At baseline the 3-, 4-, 5-, and 6-split training was used by 3, 10, 13, and 1 of the 27 participants, respectively, while the same numbers were during the diet on average 5, 8, 14, and 0 and during the recovery period 7, 8, 12, and 0. In addition, the competitors also practiced their posing routines. Training sessions lasted between 40 and 90 min.

Hormones That Affect Your Weight

A large number of hormones important to your body can significantly affect your weight. It can help to talk to your doctor about your weight concerns and to find out if, perhaps, your hormone levels may be imbalanced enough to lead to the problem. Below, youll find some of the most common hormones that can cause weight fluctuations.

Youre Hungry All The Time

Labeled as the hunger hormone, ghrelin tells you when its time to eat and has a significant impact on the size of your appetite. If you were to start fasting tomorrow, skipping breakfast, lunch, and dinner, your body would take notice and as a result begin to release ghrelin, telling you to eat again. On the other hand, if you suddenly began to binge on candy, your stomach would quickly recognize this overconsumption and cut back on ghrelin secretion.

However, research shows ghrelin secretion can become dysregulated when you gain weight. In fact, obese individuals tend to have elevated circulating levels of leptin and decreased levels of ghrelin. Having elevated leptin levels, despite what you may expect, does not always mean you are more likely to stop eating. When you have consistently elevated leptin levels this can lead to dysfunction of leptin receptors which means your brain will not receive the message youre full. This hormonal confusion throws your hunger cues out of whack and you do the opposite of what leptin is designed to do, so you continue to eat without ever receiving the signal to stop, resulting in the undesirable hormonal belly.
