What To Expect At Your First Visit

When booking, you’ll be asked about your legal name and gender, as well as the way you identify, pronouns you use, and the name you prefer to be called. We do this so we can ensure we treat you with the highest level of courtesy.

During your appointment, our staff will collect a comprehensive medical history. You’ll meet your clinician, who will get to know more about where you are in your process and the changes you hope to see, discuss with you the informed consent process, and will review both the positive effects and possible risk factors for hormone therapy. The office staff will collect routine lab work to make sure you are a healthy candidate for hormone therapy. Sometimes this lab work includes a blood draw. You do not need to fast in advance of getting your blood drawn.

Most patients are prescribed hormones that day. Our clinicians will work with you to help you decide what is best for you.

At Planned Parenthood of Western PA, we are proud to provide comprehensive reproductive care to people of all genders – in addition to taking care of your hormone therapy needs, our staff will also recommend other services you may be eligible for, such as STD screening, preventative cancer screenings, and immunizations.

Expect your first visit to take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours. Follow-up visits are typically shorter. The total visit time can increase if you receive other services at the same time, such as contraceptive care or STD screening.

What To Expect On Your First Visit

Please call to make an appointment first and request transgender services at our Arlington Health Center, Denton Health Center, Downtown Austin Health Center, El Paso Health Center, Paris Health Center, Plano Health Center, North Austin Health Center, and North Dallas Shelburne Health Center.

At your initial visit, your clinician will discuss with you the informed consent process, your gender identity history, and will review both the positive effects and possible risk factors for hormone therapy. A comprehensive history will be obtained and reviewed. The clinician will perform routine lab work to make sure you are a healthy candidate for hormone therapy.

Based on the results of this visit, most patients are prescribed hormones that day. Together, you and your clinician will make the best decision for you.

In order to continue receiving your hormones, you will need to schedule periodic appointments at Planned Parenthood for routine lab work and monitoring. Your clinician will determine the best follow up schedule based upon your needs. Reaching your individualized transition goals will be a gradual process, and your clinician will discuss in-depth what that may look like.

Planned Parenthood Florida Offering Transgender Hormone Therapy Beginning In Miami

Planned Parenthood Florida gives transgender hormone therapy

May 15, 2019 / 5:23 PM / CBS Miami

FORT LAUDERDALE A new service is being offered by Planned Parenthood, and it’s all starting in South Florida.

Planned Parenthood is now offering hormone therapy and other services for transgender patients in Florida, starting with two health centers in Miami this week. It plans to expand statewide within the year.

The services could help a patient who, for example, was born as a female and still has female organs but identifies as male. Oral, topical and injectable hormones would address issues like facial hair, redistribution of fat and muscle and thicker vocal chords. The prescriptions are written after extensive medical and blood tests and are only available for patients 18 and older.

The cost varies based on insurance and ranges from roughly $250 to $350 if paying out of pocket.

Planned Parenthood is also training staff on how to better serve the transgender population, including helping them manage routine reproductive check-ups and screenings that may be emotionally uncomfortable. That could include cancer screenings and annual gynecological exams for a patient born as a female who identifies as male who may have trouble finding a provider or have lost health care because of discrimination.

Conservatives were quick to criticize the organization, saying the services are a waste of taxpayer funds and are harmful to transgender patients.

Planned Parenthood Giving Kids Transgender Hormone Drugs With Your Tax Money

Big Tech is censoring us. Subscribe to our email list and bookmark LifeSiteNews.com to continue getting our news.

It started in 2016, when then-President Cecile Richards fresh off of the baby body parts scandal decided the organization needed to make money another way. This time, the group announced, it was getting into the transgender treatment business, announcing that the nation’s largest abortion network wasn’t just content destroying lives it wanted to ruin the younger ones too. We’re expanding access to care from pioneering research on self-injectable birth control to offering new services for our transgender patients, Richards wrote in the intro of the organization’s annual report.

What she didn’t say is that surgical abortions across the U.S. were dropping, and Planned Parenthood was looking for ways to make up the shortfall. Five years later, they’ve done that and more. According to Abigail Shrier, the group that already enjoys more than a half-billion of your hard-earned tax dollars a year has gone from 26 clinics that offer testosterone to an astonishing 210. Believe it or not, Planned Parenthood is not only the largest killer of unborn babies in America it’s also the second largest provider of gender affirming hormone care. And employees on the inside are having a hard time watching the consequences.

Learn More About Gender

Your gender identity is an important part of who you are. Learning more about gender identity can help you understand yourself and the people around you.

Gender-affirming care includes any medical or mental health care that supports transgender and non-binary people’s transition process. We offer gender-affirming hormone therapy at PPGP, which consists of either feminizing or masculinizing hormones. Many trans people take hormones as part of medical transition to help their bodies and appearance align with their gender identity.

Transitioning is the process some people may go through to live as the gender with which they identify, rather than the sex assigned to them at birth. Transitioning can involve medical treatment and hormones, changing name and pronouns, altering appearance and dress, and/or coming out to friends and family. Not all transgender and non-binary people engage in all types of transition, but for many, gender-affirming care is an essential part of transition.

Some people feel a misalignment between their body and their gender, which may cause discomfort or distress. For those who feel this way, gender-affirming hormone therapy can produce changes in the body that can alleviate that discomfort or distress, and make you feel more at ease with yourself both emotionally and physically.

Criteria For Starting Hormone Therapy

trans nonbinary hormone therapy healthcare

Hormone readiness is determined through informed consent. Informed consent means you can demonstrate understanding of both the risks and the benefits of hormone therapy and you and your clinician have both decided that this is the appropriate time for you to begin this process. Patients are not required to provide an approval letter from a therapist to start hormone therapy. PPGT believes that when fully informed, patients are capable of determining what is best for themselves and their health. We do encourage patients to connect with a mental health provider as indicated for quality, comprehensive care. Referrals for transgender-friendly mental health providers will be provided upon patient request.

Our criteria for hormone therapy reflect the World Professional Association for Transgender Health guidelines. Criteria to start hormone therapy may include the following:

  • Ability to give informed consent
  • Age of majority
  • Persistent gender dysphoria
  • Any other medical or mental health issues are reasonably well controlled.

Your clinician will discuss these criteria in detail during your initial visit and determine whether they are fulfilled.

Planned Parenthood Is Profiting Handsomely From Transgender Hormone Therapy Programs For Children

In 2021, Planned Parenthood committed 383,460 abortions. It is difficult to wrap your mind around that number when you consider that each abortion was an act of violence perpetrated against an innocent human being, and that in a mere twelve months Planned Parenthood ended more American lives than were lost in World War II and the Korean War combined. We also know that Planned Parenthood abortion workers pulled brains, livers, and other body parts out of those freshly killed babies to sell to researchers at a profit. But despite all of that, it turns out that the evillest of all American corporations can, in fact, get worse.

In February of 2021, journalist Abigail Shrier, author of Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters, broke the story that Planned Parenthood had opened up a lucrative sideline in selling transgender drugs, including to minors.

According to Planned Parenthood, in just a few years they have become the second largest national provider of hormone therapies, with Shrier interviewing one employee who reported that one or two teenage girls were coming in to the local Planned Parenthood daily seeking testosterone per day. This was in a small town of 30,000. Shrier reported that Planned Parenthood employees were trained in how to obtain the girls informed consent and start providing them with the drugs. This sideline, says Shrier, is very lucrative.

Planned Parenthood Offering Transgender Hormone Therapy In Nassau

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) at Planned Parenthood: Drews Story | Planned Parenthood Video

HEMPSTEAD, NY Planned Parenthood of Greater New York is now offering transgender hormone therapy services to patients in Nassau County at its Hempstead location. The service will be available at Planned Parenthood’s two other Nassau County locations when they reopen after the pandemic.

Transgender hormone therapy, which includes prescriptions for testosterone, estrogen and testosterone blockers, helps affirm a patient’s gender identity, decreases gender dysphoria and enhances a patient’s quality of life, Planned Parenthood said.

A recent study found that the coronavirus pandemic has created several barriers to health care for the transgender and non-binary community, including the risk of exposure to the virus, delays in access to gender-affirming care and limited access to social support, which is crucial to protecting against the effects of stigma and discrimination. Discrimination from health care providers also makes it difficult for transgender people, especially transgender people of color, to access quality health care. Planned Parenthood of Greater New York said it provides transgender health care in an inclusive environment that acknowledges the full spectrum of gender identities and addresses the systemic barriers that transgender patients already experience.

Planned Parenthood Offers Transgender Hormone Therapy To Minors

Planned Parenthood is providing transgender hormone therapy across the country, with certain locations even serving minors who are attempting to change their sex.

Americas largest provider of abortions is also providing gender affirming hormone therapy to minors in California and Nevada and to those 18 years and older across the country.

Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, which oversees a region spanning from mid-California to northern Nevada, offers gender affirming hormone therapy to those ages 16 and 17 with parental consent. For those under the age of 16, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte directs transgender and gender diverse youth to external clinics that do not have an age limit.

The Mar Monte branch of Planned Parenthood notes that their clinics provide services such as Feminizing Hormone Therapy including estrogen and spironolactone and Masculinizing Hormone Therapy including testosterone. It also provides hormone therapy self-injection instructions.

Similarly, the Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida also offers hormone therapy to minors under certain conditions and provides self-injection instructions.

A frequently asked questions document published by the Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley branch of Planned Parenthood admits that for folks taking testosterone, there is a potential risk of infertility. It goes on to note that the risk of infertility also comes with taking estrogen.
