How I Feel With Low Estrogen Vs High Estrogen

Men who are no longer interested in conceiving may benefit from safe, monitored testosterone replacement therapy. Some patients with genetic issues that cause subfertility, such as Klinefelter’s syndrome, may also benefit.

Natural options

  • Lose a few pounds: Approximately 30% of obese men have low-T. Since muscle burns more calories than fat, the more muscle you have, the less likely your body is to store excess calories as fat. However, some research suggests that low-T contributes to weight gain it’s a vicious cycle. Start by cutting belly fat, which is good for your heart health and general wellness.
  • Eat a healthy diet: For full-body health and hormone balance, consider the Mediterranean diet, which focuses on lean proteins, healthy fats, and plant-based foods. Also enjoy foods that are high in vitamin D, which supports testosterone production, strong bones, and mood. Some of these include eggs, salmon, and mushrooms.
  • Rethink online viewing habits: Pornography is readily available online and it can perpetuate skewed expectations for what masculinity and sexual virility should feel like. Your body was not designed to perform sexually for hours on end what you’re seeing on the screen is cinematography, not reality.

Symptoms Of High Estrogen Levels In Men

Here are some of the main symptoms of high estrogen levels in men:

  • Infertility. Estrogen is one of the hormones your body uses to produce sperm. High estrogen levels can slow down sperm production and make it harder to create healthy sperm.
  • Gynecomastia. Increased estrogen can cause more breast tissue to develop than normal. High levels can lead to the development of a condition called gynecomastia. This happens when the amount of breast fat tissue is abnormally high.
  • Erectile dysfunction . Increased estrogen levels can affect the balance of hormones that are needed to help get an erection and stay erect. This is especially true if you also experience low testosterone.
  • Slowed growth. Too much estrogen can result in short stature or delayed puberty in boys.
  • Epiphyseal closure. This can happen in adolescents with high estrogen, causing boys to have short stature.

Other possible symptoms of high estrogen that may happen along with other hormone imbalances include:

  • reduced sex drive

Obesity Cardiovascular Health Diabetes And Low T

To re-emphasize the point: aromatase enzymes are found in fat tissue. Obese men are more likely to have low testosterone. And men with low testosterone are more likely to become obese.

Again, fat cells metabolize testosterone lowering testosterone levels and increasing estrogen levels. And obesity also reduces the levels of SHBG. SHBGs job is to carry testosterone in the blood, so reduced levels of SHBG means less testosterone as well.

Research has shown the high estrogen raises diabetes risk and also increases the risk for prostate cancer and autoimmune diseases.

There are conflicting views on whether low T and/or high estrogen increases heart disease in men, but my dear friend Dr. Steven Masley, author of several books on heart health, wrote an article about a study that focused on the health benefits of increasing testosterone to healthy levels find it here.. He found that in men who had low T , when their testosterone levels were increased to normal levels had the following results:

  • 47% decrease in death
  • 18% reduction of heart attacks
  • 30% decrease in risk of stroke

The American Urological Association has shown there are many linkages between weight-related diseases and low testosterone. Men with certain health problems tend to have low testosterone :

Improve Your Gut Motility:

Improving bowel movement frequency and consistency is a key detoxification concept. If you arent moving your bowels well, you are recirculating bad estrogens and microbial endotoxins that drive up more inflammation and impair liver function.

Consuming an anti-inflammatory diet with good fiber sources such as chia seed and flax seed, using bone broths, fermented foods and probiotics will improve bowel motility. You should be moving your bowels a minimum of 1-2 times per day to clear out all the waste from the day before.

Use An Infrared Sauna:

How to Fix Your Low Estrogen Levels

Your skin is your largest organs and one of your most important detoxifying organs. Its way of detoxification is through sweating. While being outside on the summer heat is a great way to sweat, it is not the most effective. The sun is not available year-around and you have to be careful with the ultraviolet light and skin damage.

Infrared sauna, on the other hand, is a sauna that releases infrared light. Infrared light is safe and goes deeper into your body allowing to release fat-soluble toxins, lower toxic burdens, and even enhance internal detox pathways as well. Here is a helpful article on how to use an infrared sauna for detoxification.

White Peony And Licorice To Lower Testosterone

White peony contains a constituent called paeoniflorin, which has been shown to lower testosterone naturally . It promotes the aromatization of testosterone into estrogen. TJ-68 is a traditional Chinese formula containing a combination of equal parts white peony and licorice. In a trial of 34 women with PCOS this combination significantly lowered testosterone naturally. In a trial of 8 women with elevated androgen, a similar effect was observed where it lowered testosterone naturally too. Pairing white peony and licorice makes a great herbal tea combination for improving insulin sensitivity and to help boost ovulation.

Take Charge Of Your Estrogen Levels

  • Get tested using “sensitive” blood assay.
  • If your reading is normal, use it as a reference point in the following years.
  • If the reading is too high, assess whether you have any symptoms of high estrogen. Similarly, if the reading is too low, check to see if you have any symptoms of low estrogen.
  • Attack the problem by using any estrogen-fighting solution or combination of solutions listed above, including lifestyle changes, supplements, drugs, diet, or avoidance of xeno and phytoestrogens.
  • Zinc To Lower Testosterone

    TRT: High vs Low Estrogen

    Checking The Thyroid Self Test

One of the ways to check whether you have an underactive thyroid is to measure your basal temperature once a day.

The basal thermometer should be sensitive enough to measure temperature to one decimal point. These are widely available in pharmacies and mostly inexpensive.

The temperature should be taken once a day for seven days. The key is to take the temperature before taking any food or drink, and prior to going to the bathroom.

Write down the measured temperature every day and add up the numbers, then divide them by the number of days, which is seven.

Normal body temperature is between 36.4°C 36.7°C or 97.6°F 98.2°F. If your measured average temperature is below this range, you may have underactive thyroid.

If you feel like your symptoms may mean your thyroid is not working properly visit the doctor as soon as possible. Many doctors attribute the symptoms to aging only. Make sure that you get all the necessary tests. Insist if needed!

    Causes Of High Estrogen Symptoms

The following factors can affect the balance of testosterone/estrogen in men that lead to high level estrogen symptoms. They include:

Aging. Aging is associated with increased aromatase, which is an enzyme responsible for converting testosterone into estrogen. Aging men actually have higher estrogen levels than women that are postmenopausal.

Fat to Muscle Ratio. Also with aging you lose lean muscle tissue and have an increase in fat tissue. The fat tissue contains aromatase converting testosterone into estrogen. Fat can also become a reservoir for estradiol storage. Both factors can lead to an increase in estrogen levels in men.

Testosterone Therapy. Men can make too much estrogen when treated with inject able forms of testosterone. Even natural testosterone therapy such as bioidentical can increase levels of estrogen especially when used for obesity or in excess.

Inaccurate Feedback. Men can get an inaccurate feedback, misleading the testes and brain into a lesser production of testosterone. This in turn can cause even higher levels of estrogen and more serious dominance of estrogen.

    Insulin Resistance And Estrogen

    301 Moved Permanently

Insulin resistance and a higher carbohydrate diet can also increase estrogen levels. If you have excess body fat you may need to reduce carbohydrates. Although, you can still eat lots of vegetables and other fiber-rich foods such as flaxseeds and psyllium.

This is especially important for women with PCOS and men with excess estrogen as the insulin resistance will up-regulate the aromatase enzyme causing excess estrogen.

    Testosterone Therapy For Low Levels

In most cases, men need to have both low levels of testosterone in their blood and several symptoms of low testosterone to go on therapy.

It is possible to have low levels and not experience symptoms. But if you do not have any key symptoms, especially fatigue and sexual dysfunction, which are the most common, it is not recommended you go on the therapy given the uncertainty about long-term safety.

Even if your levels are low and you have symptoms, low-t therapy is not always the first course of action. If your doctor can identify the source for declining levelsfor instance, weight gain or a particular medicationhe or she may first address that problem.

If you and your doctor think testosterone replacement therapy is right for you, there are a variety of delivery methods to consider, as found in the Harvard Special Health Report Men’s Health: Fifty and Forward.

Most men feel improvement in symptoms within four to six weeks of taking testosterone replacement therapy, although changes like increases in muscle mass may take from three to six months.

Symptoms Of High Testosterone In Women

Signs of high testosterone levels in women can include:

    • Excess acne
    • Abnormal hair growth throughout your body
    • Male pattern baldness
    • An enlarged clitoris and smaller breast size
    • Menstrual irregularities are another sign of high levels of testosterone
    • And if you put on pounds super easily, you might want to get your testosterone levels checked: elevated testosterone contributes to weight gain

High female testosterone levels are also linked with an increased risk of obesity and infertility. Post-menopausal women with elevated testosterone may be more likely to experience insulin resistance, which can make diabetes more likely. If you have high levels of testosterone, speak with your healthcare provider to learn about hormone imbalance treatment options. In some cases, hormone therapy or medication can help get levels back to a balanced state.

    Treatment Solutions For High Estrogen

Higher levels of estrogen create far-reaching issues for all men and can be severe in many ways. Medication is often a popular solution for those with higher estrogen levels. Aromatase inhibitors are a possible treatment option to consider. Inhibitors are supposed to stop the Androgen hormones from turning into estrogen, but the results vary considerably. You might need to talk to your doctor about this as some doctors wont initially recommend this treatment. Inhibitors can also be found in many natural forms, such as grapeseed extract.

What Causes Lower Testosterone In Females

    • Long-term use of various methods of birth controlâsuch as oral birth control pills and contraceptive patches
    • Ovarian failureâwhere your ovaries stop functioning correctlyâcan lead to low testosterone levels. Possible causes of ovarian failure include chemotherapy, radiation treatment, and eating disorders, but the most common cause of ovarian failure is menopauseâwhich happens to every woman as she ages. Thus, a menopausal woman may develop an imbalance in testosterone levels.
    • Using certain medicationâsuch as anti-hypertensives and opiates
    • Tumors on various glands in the bodyâsuch as the pituitary glandâcan also cause a hormone imbalance like low T levels in women

Its common practice to prescribe anastrozole with TRT at 0.1mg per week if estradiol is too high. Anastrozole is an aromatase-inhibiting oral pill medication.

Slight adjustments to mens diets could make an normalize estrogen aromatization. Kick starting the metabolize estrogen levels with natural phytochemical herbs from vegetable extracts.

Diindolylmethane found in leafy greens and vegetables is the best place to start. Veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, kale, and brussel sprouts are considered to be the most active cruciferous substance for promoting beneficial estrogen metabolism. Diindolylmethane helps increase the ratio of good bind friendly estrogen, which connects to sex hormone binding globulin , leaving more room for free testosterone to float around. Diindolylmethane also flushes out bad or weak estrogen .

These plants contain phytochemicals that aids in blocking estrogen production.
